Grace Hopper

Computer scientist and U.S. Navy rear admiral who invented one of the first compilers and popularised the idea of machine-independent programming languages.

1960s

Margaret Hamilton

The software engineer whose work on Apollo’s onboard flight software helped put humans on the moon, and who coined the term “software engineering.”

Radia Perlman

Pioneer in network engineering and inventor of the Spanning Tree Protocol — the foundation of modern Ethernet networking, earning her the title “Mother of the Internet.”
