STEM, Systems Thinking, and Surprises — 25 Years in Tech

I've spent over two decades working across embedded systems, aerospace engineering, and STEM education. From launching satellites to mentoring girls in robotics, I've seen how tech continues to evolve — and how we must evolve with it.

The biggest myth I see in STEM is the idea that anyone ever "masters" it. The truth is, tech is always changing. I've worked with microcontrollers the size of a coin and cloud systems that manage billions of requests per second. What mattered most wasn't my degree — it was my willingness to keep learning.

In the 2000s, I worked on a team developing autonomous drones. The best solutions came not from engineers alone, but from biologists, artists, and ethicists working together. Today, successful teams blend logic from computer science, empathy from psychology, and creativity from design. If you're in tech and ignoring the humanities, you're missing out on what makes technology truly impactful.

My proudest moments aren't the awards — they're watching former students build clean water systems with Arduino, or AI-powered reading tools for kids with dyslexia. To anyone entering tech: stay humble, stay curious, and never forget — you're building the future.
